The Queensland Renewable Energy Council (QREC) welcomes Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Energy David Janetzki’s confirmation of the Crisafulli Government’s support for affordable, reliable, and sustainable renewable energy.
Speaking at the QREC Energy Connect forum in Brisbane last night, Minister Janetzki said Queensland was open for investment in renewables, as part of an energy plan committed to economics and overall sustainability, not ideology.
“Minister Jantezki’s remarks are a timely reminder of the vital role that renewable energy plays in Queensland’s economic and environmental future,” said Katie-Anne Mulder, QREC’s Chief Executive.
“His focus on balancing innovation with affordability and reliability is exactly what Queensland needs as we continue our transition to a sustainable energy future. We are excited that the government is setting the stage for long-term investment and success in the sector.”
Mr Janetzki’s speech coincided with the first anniversary of the formation of QREC as the State’s dedicated renewable energy industry association.
“QREC’s first year has been one of growth and achievement, with the Council playing a key role in engaging industry leaders, stakeholders, and policymakers to push for impactful renewable energy policies,” Ms Mulder said.
With the appointment of the first member-elect Board at yesterday’s Annual General Meeting, QREC is now well-positioned to further its mission to advocate for policies that accelerate the adoption of renewable energy solutions across the state.
“The appointment of our first member-elect Board is an exciting development in QREC’s journey, and it reinforces our capacity to drive Queensland’s renewable energy agenda forward,” Ms Mulder said.
“With the support of Minister Janetzki, our broad outreach across the Parliament and stakeholders and a strong leadership team, QREC is more committed than ever to advancing solutions that promote sustainable development that drive regional economic opportunities.”
QREC looks forward to continuing its work with the Queensland Government and industry partners to further Queensland’s renewable energy potential and create a sustainable and affordable energy future for all.
